Little Thieves

A few days after we had our shish kabob bbq Luke found something amiss with his grill. The little grease catcher had been taken out and laid on the ground next to it.

You can see that the grease catcher is suppose to be slid in underneath the grill where that little silver latch is and then locked into place. It's a pretty secure latch, not prone to just blowing open. So Luke took a closer look....

Little greasy paw prints were scattered all over our deck and the side of the grill. Raccoons! I said we lived right next to the woods and I wasn't kidding. We have already had experience with the little rascals dumping our garbage can over, and now they've moved on to our grill. Gross! Can you say rabies? We cook our food on that grill! Luke cleaned it with clorox and the grill now lives in the garage when it's not in use. It was pretty funny to think that they figured out how to unlatch and take out the grease catcher. I didn't even know how to do that. I guess those little raccoons can be pretty smart. I know that they are dirty trouble makers that would probably attack if approched, but I have to admit that those little paw prints were kinda cute. And hey, any creature that is a friend to Bob Ross (R.I.P) is a friend to me.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. So cute, but at the same time, gross!

Hey, it looks like you guys are having fun in Missouri. When does Luke start school? We just moved to West Virginia and my husband started med school orientation today and his classes start next Monday. I'm a little nervous about the life with my husband as a med student, and I'm sure you understand! Good luck with everything!!

Sneaky little things. They snuck into our van once and broke into our cooler. We couldn't figure out how they got the latches open.

Little rascals! I remember we had problems with iguanas in Panama doing the same kinds of things.

We were in the St. Louis airport last week on our way to Boston. I thought "We are in the same state as Luke and Mel!" I wondered if we were close to you at all, then realized I have no idea where Kirksville actually is. I was going to call but my phone was dead :( tragic!

Little bandits! That is funny. I can see Luke setting up a cam to try to catch some live action. Just wait until winter when they are really hungry...HA HA HA!

That's funny Melinda, that really was my first instinct; though I didn't disclose it to Mel!
